Benjamin Asare target milestone with Black Stars

Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has revealed his biggest target as a professional footballer is to achieve things for himself.

The Accra Hearts of Oak SC glovesman is tipped to make the cut for Coach Carlos Queiroz final 26-man squad for their 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament, following his brilliant exploit with the national men’s team of Ghana.

Asare, few days ago was named in a 28-man squad for Ghana’s pre-world cup friendly against Wales scheduled for June 02, 2026 with three other goalkeepers.

He’s admitted, in other to achieve greatness has to work more and maintain unity at Black Stars camp, irrespective of the technical team probably preferring another goalkeeper to him as first choice.

“I want to achieve great things for myself, but that does not mean I have achieved it as a number one for the national team. I have to work more because we have more goalkeepers”

“We need to maintain unity in the team so that we can reach our goal as a strong team”, Asare said.

“If the coach starts another goalkeeper, it doesn’t mean that because I’m the number one, I should be angry. We have to stay prayerful and united for collective success”, he told GFA during their training in the UK ahead of Wales clash.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare earned his maiden Black Stars call-up on March 14, 2025 and has since made appearance for Ghana.
