Kenya has named its final men’s volleyball travelling squad ahead of the forthcoming CAVB Zone V Volleyball Championships set for Kampala, Uganda beginning May 31.
The national team is expected to conclude its residential training camp before departing for Kampala for the final phase of preparations ahead of the regional qualifiers, which will run from May 31 to June 5 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.
The Zone V tournament, which brings together 12 countries from the East and Central African region, is expected to attract all regional teams battling for honours in Uganda’s capital.
According to the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), champions from the six African zones will automatically qualify for the Africa Nations Championships. The continental tournament will also feature the host nation together with nine additional teams selected through rankings and registration procedures to complete a 16-team lineup in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The Kampala qualifiers are expected to feature teams from Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Sudan, South Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Tanzania, and Rwanda, although final participation will depend on confirmations from the respective federations.
