Why I Did Not Kneel To Propose To My Wife

Entertainment

Afrobeat singer and grandson of the legendary Fela Kuti, Made Kuti, has opened up about why he did not kneel to propose to his wife.

Speaking on the Timeless Podcast on Nix Network YouTube channel, the 30-year-old shares his views on proposals and marriages.

Made explained that his marriage is a mutual agreement between himself and his wife, adding that kneeling feels like begging for the union.

I did not go down on my knees when proposing to my wife because I told her it was a mutual decision. We are not begging each other to be with each other,” he said.

The singer tied the knot with his wife, Inedoye Onyenso, in 2023.

Meanwhile, Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has alleged that supporters of Peter Obi, known as Obidients, once planned to harm him during his detention.

Naija News reports that the singer made the claim during a live session on Instagram, where he spoke about events that allegedly took place while he was held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, in Lagos.

He said he had kept the matter private for a long time because of the identity of the person he believed was connected to the plan.

According to him, the individual involved is someone many young Nigerians admire, which made him avoid speaking publicly about it.

Seun also revealed that activist Omoyele Sowore had advised him to share the story earlier, but he chose not to, saying he prefers to handle issues in his own way.

The musician made it clear that he does not intend to attack anyone over political choices. He explained that supporting politicians like Obi, Atiku Abubakar, or Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a personal decision, and he respects that.

He, however, suggested that he may address the matter directly with the person involved at a later time, adding that he would do so when the situation in Nigeria improves.

He said: “I told you the Obidient movement tried to finish me, tried to kill me while I was in there. I never told that story because of who was involved… someone looked up to by so many young people. I will not fight him… just the way I will not fight anybody who tries to follow Atiku or Tinubu, you have just made your political choice.”
