Governor Sang Orders 4 Health Officers To Step Aside Following Death of Teacher

Nandi county governor Wakili Stephen Sang has on June 2 directed that four health officers in the county to step aside in order to pave way for investigations surrounding the death of a teacher.

In a press release, the county boss looked agitated by the health officers in what he suspects as negligence of duty which led to the demise of Ms Nancy Chepchumba Birgen who passed on under unclear circumstances.

Governor Sang in the statement further appointed a five member committee to investigate and establish circumstances surrounding medical treatment and patient management of the late Ms Chepchumba.

“The committee should establish and report on the role played and any gaps attributable to the leadership of county health department and in particular the staff at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital,” read part of the statement by governor Sang.

To allow objective and independent investigations by the committee which has been given 14 days to report back the findings, four county health officers namely: 1. Mrs Ruth Koech -CECM Health & Sanitation

2. Mr. Fredrick Kiptum – Chief Officer for Health and Sanitation

3. Dr. David Bungei- Director Medical Services and

4. Dr. Emmanuel Rutto – Acting Medical Supretendant KCRH, have been ordered to step aside.

The governor’s statement comes hours after a video of one of the deceased’s friend went viral on social media pointing fingers at the county leadership blaming it for the loss.
