Meet The African President Who Does Not Live In His Country And The Reason Why

It is interesting to watch an elected president run or lead his or her country while staying elsewhere. Paul Biya, who came to power following the stunning flight of the country’s president at the time, Ahmadou Ahidjo, in 1982, presents a different possibility. Biya has held the lead in Cameroon up to this point despite being accused of vote stealing.

President Paul Biya became the first African leader to imprison and remove all of his political opponents after an attempt to topple his government in 1984 failed. He has been in office for the second-longest stretch in Africa.

Paul Biya’s abrupt departure from Cameroon is surprising. In Geneva, Switzerland, where he lives with his family, he spends the vast bulk of his time working on his house. President Paul Biya claims to live in Geneva, but he also has a home in Cameroon, where he periodically travels for, among other things, attending public events, social gatherings, and official activities.

Why doesn’t President Paul Biya go back to his own Cameroon and why is he still in Geneva?

According to president Paul Biya, the environment in Cameroon is unfavorable for his health, which is the main reason he chose to relocate to Geneva. What do you think?
