Chelsea have settled their eyes on Leeds United shot stopper Ilan Meslier for a summer move. The Blues have already made contact with the French goalkeeper, in a bid to persuade him that Chelsea is the ideal environment for him to achieve his full potential. His price tag at the moment stands at a staggering €30 Million, which is quite fair for a player of his caliber, Premier League experience and age.
“Chelsea have subscribed to the race to sign Leeds’ Ilan Meslier in the summer. The Frenchman has been a key player for Leeds since their promotion to the top flight and his vast experience ranks him among the most respected goalkeepers in the league. Over the last two seasons his saving percentages have been ridiculously high and that is why Chelsea are pouncing on him,” reported Ian Baker.

Signing Meslier in the summer will open the door wide for Kepa Arrizabalaga to leave to another club. The Spaniard has been intent on joining another club, especially when Mendy was the preferred #1 in the starting eleven. Lazio have been keeping tabs on the shot stopper and could finally make a move on him in the summer as a direct replacement for Provedel who has been heavily tipped with a move to Real Madrid.

My opinion
As for Gabriel Slonani, moving to Chelsea has proven to be quite stressful. The teenager has not managed a single minute this season for the Blues, despite his signature being sought for almost a year. It is worth mentioning that he rejected better offers from Real Madrid thrice before giving in to Chelsea. Since he is not even playing for the U21s, his best option would be to leave on loan next season.

Dean Henderson has also been discussed internally at Chelsea but no formal approach has been made so far. Since it is not quite clear whether De Gea might leave Manchester United at the end of the season, Dean Henderson’s future currently stands in the balance. Incase Ten Hag decides to sell him, he could be bound to the Stamford Bridge as a cheaper alternative to Ilan Meslier.
