Female KDF Officers Win Hearts After Photos of Their Mission in DRC Congo Leaks

Days after the Kenya Defence Forces anded in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to help in a peacekeeping mission and to reclaim parts of the country that had been taken over by the M23 Rebels.

And on Wednesday, KDF released photos of the officers that have been involved in the peacekeeping meeting. Through its social media users, KDF lauded the gallant soldiers for their continued efforts to restore peace in the volatile areas of Eringeti, Eastern parts of DRC during the festive season.

KDF went ahead to share photos of the officers, most of whom were brave female soldiers who accompanied their male counterparts to the region to keep the peace.

In the photos that have been hailed by netizens, the female soldiers could be seen interacting warmly with the locals and even taking time to lift and hold babies as jovial residents look on.

Another female soldier could be seen sharing some Christmas gifts with children from the community, something that got the attention of many Kenyans.

During the festive period operation, Kenyan troops work in close coordination with the Congolese Force, (FARDC) and the South Africa National Defense Forces (SANDF) to intensify patrols in the area so as to deny militia groups freedom of movement.

On December 23, KDF soldiers bravely took over Kibumba area, one of the M23 rebels’ strongholds.

Led by KDF Maj Gen Jeff Nyagah, Kenyan soldiers took over the area that is located 30 km North of Goma town after intense military mobilization.  The M23 rebels withdrew from Kibumba in compliance with the Luanda mini-summit communique of November 23, 2022.
