Salau, Udekwe Lead Super League

Selim Salau of the Central Eagles and Chiemelie Udekwe of the Western Dolphins are the leading contributors with the bat and ball at the inaugural Nigeria Super League, setting the pace in the newly sanctioned Nigeria Cricket Federation tournament, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Salau tops the batting leaderboard with 83 runs, while Udekwe’s six wickets place him at the top of the wicket-takers’ chart.

On Sunday, Salau set the record for the highest individual score in the Nigeria Super League, posting a sensational 83 off 61 balls in Central Eagles’ nervy one-run win over the Eastern Elephants.

The right-hander struck four boundaries and seven sixes to anchor the innings and seal his side’s first win of the tournament.

He is joined in the top five batting rankings by Odion Isesele of the Southern Sharks (58 runs), Ipoli Victor of Eastern Elephants (52 runs), Miracle Akhigbe of Southern Sharks (50 runs), and Kenneth Boniface of Southern Sharks (47 runs).

With six wickets, Udekwe tops the bowling leaderboard despite Western Dolphins’ struggles.

His team has lost two of their games so far, but the Yellow Greens stalwart has maintained his fine form with sharp deliveries.

Behind him are Southern Sharks duo Isaac Danladi and Isesele with four wickets each, as well as Northern Lions duo Sylvestre Okpe and Reigneth Osagie with three wickets apiece.

After a two-day break, action returns on Wednesday, with Eastern Elephants seeking their first win against second-placed Middle Belt Tigers, while Southern Sharks and Western Dolphins will also face off.
