CAF Inspection Team Begins AFCON 2027 Visits to PAMOJA Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has dispatched a team of technical experts to Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania as preparations intensify for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027.

The inspection visits, which began this week, will run until Tuesday, 17 February, as CAF applies its strict, world-class delivery standards ahead of the tournament to be jointly hosted by the three East African nations under the PAMOJA banner.

In addition to the technical inspections, the spotlight will also be on Tanzania, which will host the CAF Executive Committee and CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, on Friday, 13 February 2025.

The CAF technical team is assessing key areas including pitch quality, safety and security measures, infrastructure readiness, and operational capacity at designated match venues and training facilities across the three countries.

These inspections form part of CAF’s broader strategy to raise standards both on and off the pitch across African football.

By enforcing consistent, world-class benchmarks in infrastructure, venue management and tournament operations, CAF aims to further enhance the reputation of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON as one of the leading football competitions globally.

The initiative also aligns with CAF’s long-term objective of supporting sustainable football development across the continent, working closely with host governments and Local Organising Committees (LOCs) to improve facilities, delivery capacity and overall football ecosystems.

Tanzania

CAF’s inspection programme commenced in Dar es Salaam and will extend to Arusha and Zanzibar. Key venues under review include the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and several designated training sites. In Arusha, the team will inspect the Samia Suluhu Stadium.

In Zanzibar, CAF experts will visit Amaan Stadium and Fumba Stadium, the latter earmarked by the Tanzania Local Organising Committee for use during the tournament.

Kenya

In Kenya, the CAF delegation will conduct inspections in Nairobi, covering Kasarani Stadium, Nyayo Stadium and Talanta Sports Stadium.

Training facilities such as the Ulinzi Sports Complex and the Kenya Academy of Sports are also included in the programme.

Uganda

Uganda’s inspection schedule covers Entebbe and Kampala, with visits to Mandela National Stadium and designated training venues. The CAF team will also travel to Hoima to inspect the Hoima City Stadium.

CAF reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the three host nations, their governments and LOC structures to support delivery planning and ensure preparations gather momentum ahead of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
