MTN Ghana plans to invest more than US$1.1 billion over the next three years to expand its telecommunications network, improve service quality and strengthen infrastructure across the country.

The investment comes as demand for reliable internet and digital services continues to grow.

About US$380 million is expected to be invested in 2026, with 80 new network sites planned for the Northern, North East, Savannah and Upper East regions.

The sites form part of a wider plan to establish 500 new network sites across Ghana.

The investment is also expected to support the expansion of 5G connectivity, which could improve internet speeds and create opportunities for businesses, education, digital services and emerging technologies.

MTN Ghana currently serves more than 32 million subscribers, according to figures presented by the company.

The company says stronger telecommunications infrastructure will be important to Ghana’s digital transformation and economic development.

The announcement comes as Ghana continues efforts to improve digital inclusion and expand access to reliable connectivity, particularly in areas where network coverage remains limited.

The planned investment is expected to strengthen network capacity and support the growing demand for mobile and digital services across the country.
