The Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana has facilitated an engagement between Aquamet Technologies and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration aimed at advancing Ghana’s aquaculture sector through technology and innovation.

The meeting was led by the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Aquaculture Ghana, Jacob Adzikah, and brought together key stakeholders, including the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur; the Chief Director of the Ministry; the Executive Director of the Fisheries Commission; and the Director of Aquaculture.

The engagement provided an opportunity for Aquamet Technologies to introduce its team and digital solutions to officials of the Ministry and explore how technology could support the growth and development of aquaculture in Ghana.

Aquamet Technologies, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Frank Owusu, together with Co-Founder Gabriel Lorlornyo, presented the company’s solutions and highlighted its capabilities in water-quality monitoring, data collection, digital technology and impact measurement.

Discussions focused on how technology and data could be leveraged to strengthen aquaculture development, improve decision-making and enhance the monitoring of interventions within the sector.

The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Emelia Arthur, welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with young Ghanaian innovators developing solutions for the sector.

She emphasised the importance of effectively monitoring critical water-quality parameters for successful fish production and expressed interest in technology that can not only detect abnormalities but also provide farmers with guidance on appropriate responses.

The engagement marks another step towards promoting innovation and strengthening collaboration among government, industry players and technology developers in Ghana’s aquaculture sector.

Stakeholders believe the deployment of digital technology, improved data systems and innovative solutions could help unlock knowledge, markets and financing opportunities while supporting the sustainable growth of aquaculture in Ghana.
