The Black Princesses lost their opening game 3-0 to Ecuador in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Ghana had the first chance through Agnes Yeboah, but her effort was parried to safety. Ecuador took an early lead when they beat goalkeeper Najat Abdul Salam in the second minute.

Ecuador doubled their lead in the 16th minute. Goalkeeper Najat was replaced by Precious Asante due to injury.

Ghana pushed to reduce the deficit, but their efforts proved futile as the first half ended 2-0. After the break, Ecuador added a third goal to end the game 3-0.

Ghana will play South Korea in their second game on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
