President John Dramani Mahama has identified that Ghana and Belarus can reap in several benefits in agriculture through strategic partnership.

Speaking in Belarus on Monday, June 8, Mr. Mahama noted that agriculture remains central to Ghana’s development agenda and identified Belarus as a key partner due to its expertise in agricultural mechanisation, farm technology, equipment manufacturing and agricultural research.

According to him, Ghana’s efforts to modernise its agricultural sector align with Belarus’ strengths, creating opportunities for both countries to deepen cooperation for mutual benefit.

“In pursuing these goals, we see significant opportunities for collaboration with Belarus. Belarus has built an impressive reputation in agricultural mechanization, farm technology, equipment manufacturing, and agricultural research. These are areas where Ghana can benefit greatly through strategic partnerships, technology transfer, skills development, and investment,” the President said.

He stressed that combining Ghana’s agricultural potential with Belarusian innovation could yield significant benefits for both countries.

“By combining Ghana’s agricultural potential with Belarusian expertise and innovation, we can create partnerships that contribute to food security, industrial growth, and shared prosperity,” he stated.

President Mahama further indicated that beyond agriculture, both countries could strengthen cooperation in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, mining support services, transport and logistics, technical and vocational education, renewable energy and industrial development.

He disclosed that Ghana has already invited a Belarusian delegation to visit the country’s mining sector to explore possible areas of collaboration.

The President also encouraged stronger engagement between the private sectors of both countries, saying increased business partnerships would help generate employment, facilitate knowledge transfer and deepen economic relations.
