Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Nebojsa Kapor has named a 22-man travelling squad to Kumasi to battle Asante Kotoko in the 2026 Democracy Cup.
Ghana’s football giants, Hearts of Oak, are bracing for another sizzling showdown in this year’s Democracy Cup on Friday, 28 August 2026 at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
According to a proposal submitted to Parliament and sighted by GhanaSportsPage, the winning club is expected to travel to Antelope Valley, California, in May 2027, to play against a partner team as part of the BABA Festival.
This annual clash, a tribute to the sitting president, is a marquee event on the Ghanaian football calendar, drawing fans into a fervour of excitement and anticipation to also welcome the upcoming football season.
Coach Kapor paraded three goalkeepers: Benjamin Asare, Sheriff Shuan and Vincent Anane. Kapor’s squad includes top defenders who made the trip to Kumasi: Kelvin Osei Asibey, Emmanuel Amankwa, Ali Mohammed, Abdul Aziz and others.
