Fubara renews commitment to transparency

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has renewed his pledge to uphold transparency and the “Rivers First” mantra, stressing that it remains the guiding philosophy of his administration over the past three years.

In a goodwill message marking the third anniversary of his government, Fubara said prioritising the people’s interest and wellbeing has been his focus throughout his 36 months in office.

This was contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Onwuka Nzeshi.

Fubara highlighted that the administration’s massive investments in road infrastructure were designed to connect rural communities with urban centres and expand economic opportunities.

He noted that the vision of transforming Rivers State into an investment hub inspired signature projects such as the Port Harcourt Ring Road, Trans-Kalabari Highway, Elele/Umudioga/Egbeda/Ubimini/Ikiri/Omoku Road, and the Ngo-Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road, among others.

The governor added that his administration also strengthened education and healthcare systems while prioritising peace and security across the state.

Expressing gratitude to Rivers people for their trust, Fubara assured that public funds would continue to serve the public good.

“What we have achieved in three years is proof that when government and citizens pull in the same direction, progress is possible. As we mark this anniversary, I renew my commitment to you: to lead with transparency, listen more than I speak, and ensure that every project, every policy, and every naira spent reflects your interest,” he stated.

While acknowledging that more work lies ahead, Fubara urged elders, youths, women, traders, teachers, farmers, artisans, and professionals to play their part in building the state.

He also congratulated Rivers people and Nigerians as the nation celebrates 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance — the longest stretch of civil rule since independence.

Fubara noted that the milestone demonstrates Nigeria’s ability to coexist, disagree, and still move forward together.
