Dream Star Ladies duo make LA LIGA devt programme

Two players from Nigeria Women’s League side, Dream Star Ladies F.C., Sanni Aishat and Sofiat Razaq, have been selected to represent Nigeria at the LALIGA and EA SPORTS Football Development Programme in Madrid, Spain.

The duo earned their spots following the conclusion of the LALIGA EA NEXT Gen Draft in Nigeria, a grassroots football initiative organised by LALIGA and EA Sports in partnership with Legacy Sports, the Nationwide League One and the Lagos State Football Association.

Only eight Nigerian players were selected for the international programme, comprising four boys and four girls, with Dream Star Ladies producing two of the female players chosen.

The programme is designed to discover and develop young football talents across five countries — Nigeria, Morocco, Mexico, China and Japan.

The players are currently in Spain, where they are training and competing alongside other top young talents from around the world under the watch of football clubs, academies and international scouts.

According to the club, the selection process assessed players based on technical ability, tactical understanding, physical qualities and attitude, with emphasis placed on long-term development potential.

“We are incredibly proud of the girls and what they have achieved. For them to come through such a detailed selection process and represent Nigeria on the global stage says a lot about the work we are doing at Dream Star Ladies FC,” the club said in a statement.

The club also reiterated its commitment to creating opportunities for young female footballers to develop their talents and gain international exposure.
