The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Surah Animashaun, has felicitated with the Muslim community on this year’s Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

She appealed for fervent prayers to address the nation’s security challenges and other pressing issues.

Animashaun, in a Sallah message released to newsmen on Tuesday, urged Nigerians, Lagosians and Epe indigenes to set aside personal, group and sectarian interests.

She also implored citizens to use the period to pray for the success of the 2027 general elections.

The council chair highlighted the significance of the festival of sacrifice, enjoining citizens to use the occasion for sober reflection and to foster harmony and tolerance in their dealings with one another.

“On this occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, I urge all Nigerians, as well as Epe residents, to rise above personal, group, sectarian and other interests, and to promote harmony and tolerance in dealing with one another at all times.

“We must imbibe this lesson and make it a duty to sacrifice for others and to always remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Selfishness, greed and corruption have no place in our lives and in our dealings with one another,” she said.

Animashaun further charged the well-to-do to extend support to the less privileged, noting the importance of giving them a sense of belonging in society.

She said, “Let us all continue to pray fervently to God Almighty to see our country out of these security challenges and other emerging challenges facing the nation. We should also use this unique period to pray for the success of the upcoming general elections in the country.

“Pray and support our leaders at all levels to succeed. President Bola Tinubu needs our prayers, and our Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu needs our support and prayers to enable them to succeed, as well as all other leaders at all levels.”

Animashaun felicitated with all Muslims on the Sallah celebration, while enjoining citizens to remain law-abiding and committed to constituted authorities.
