Accra, May 16, GNA – Zijin Golden Ridge Limited has donated US$100,000 (GHS1,130,000) to support the Black Stars’ preparation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.
The amount was presented to the Black Stars World Cup 2026 Fundraising Committee at the Ministry of Finance in Accra on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Mr Jason Zhang, Vice President in charge of Sustainability and External Relations at Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, said the donation was part of the company’s commitment to national development.
“We did not make this decision simply as a business gesture. We made it as a company that has put down roots in this country, works alongside Ghanaian communities, and employs Ghanaian talent,” he said.
Mr Zhang added that the Black Stars carried the hopes, pride, and identity of the nation, hence the company’s decision to back the team.
Mr Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Minister of Finance, who received the money on behalf of the fundraising committee, commended Zijin Golden Ridge Limited for the gesture.
He also thanked all those who had responded to the call and therefore appealed to other corporate bodies to support the national fundraising drive before the end of May.
The Deputy Minister reminded corporate donors that such contributions were tax-deductible and could be factored into their 2026 tax filings.
