“Permanent vows cannot be changed until the time when you leave this world,” he told the five Sisters who made their Perpetual vows and the six who made their first Religious Profession. “We need a lot to do to reach this permanency. It is the moment of discernment. Let us keep on discerning every day,” he added.
The 55 year old Bishop said that the journey toward full union with God is long and requires daily discernment, prayer, and perseverance.
He urged members of the congregation of PHJC to commit themselves fully to Religious life while also embracing their own personal happiness in serving the Lord who has called them.
“God has taken you in a special way. He has loved you more. Continue serving Him always with joy,” he said.
The member of the Congregation of Consolata Missionaries (I.M.C) urged the Catholic Sisters to focus on their calling and living their vows, especially the vow of obedience, saying, “Listen to the Mother Superior. Listen to God and act accordingly.”
The Catholic Bishop highlighted the importance of the Religious Women in society, calling for their support, not only spiritually but also materially.
Bishop Murugara emphasized thatb embracing community life is a key to Religious vocation.
upon the Sisters to embrace community life, saying that it’s a key support in living their Religious vows. “Community life will help you live your vows, pray, and avail yourself to God all the time.”
He cautioned the Sisters against fighting each other, calling for peace, unity, and harmony among them regardless of their different backgrounds.
The Bishop acknowledged some of the challenges present in Religious life saying that it also has moments of “dryness and fatigue,” urging the Catholic Sisters to depend on God when faced with difficulties.
