In their statement read out during the launch of the 2025 Lenten Campaign that members of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) decried premature campaigns amid “ethnic mobilization”, continued abductions, and corruption “scourge”.

In his remarks during the WDCL in ADN Fr. Kaigwa also urged members of the Clergy of the Kenyan Metropolitan See to be compassionate and “immerse” themselves in the situation of the vulnerable and the suffering just as Jesus did.
“The nature of our priesthood and these miraculous nights is not complete without compassion. Jesus immersed Himself into our situation, our human situation, our weak situation, our needy situation,” he said.
He added, “As Priests, we recognize and call to immerse ourselves in the situations of our people, the needy in our society. To offer them hope.”
Fr. Kaigwa called on Priests to embrace the needy by “going down the hills, on the fringes and peripheries of society, answering to the Lord’s call, three miles shift, ten miles shift. He told this to Peter, and we want to be with that call. We continue to be.”
He encouraged the Priests in the Archdiocese not to tire in their mission noting that they are not alone but in communion with Jesus Christ.
“Jesus told us, ‘I will be with you.’ I want to say after His death, you shall not walk alone. Here we are in Jesus,” Fr. Kaigwa said.
