Senior pastor of the Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has taken a swipe at NDC parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso East constituency, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, following allegations of vote-buying.

On February 7, 2026, during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries for the constituency, videos surfaced showing some delegates flaunting television sets and other items allegedly gifted by Baba Jamal.

When confronted by journalists over the gifts, Baba Jamal defended himself, stating, “What is wrong if television sets are given to people? Is this the first time I’m gifting things to people?

“Those who know me know that every Christmas, I gift people. I have even put down 2.5 million to lend to people. It is not vote buying. If somebody gives you a gift, you can take it, but allowing that gift to influence your vote is wrong.”

In response to this, Prophet Oduro questioned the source of the money during an address to his congregation:

“I saw a video yesterday of a man speaking after sharing televisions with people for votes, and his comment was, ‘Every year I put 2 million aside.’

“Where did you get the 2 million from? Let God allow you to stay in opposition for twelve years, and let’s see if you can produce a pesewa. Where did you get the two million from?” he asked.

President Mahama recalls Baba Jamal

The prophet further inquired if the Ghana Revenue Authority is aware of the supposed funds and bemoaned the ‘disrespect’ shown by politicians towards Ghanaians.

“Which job are you doing to get two million to give away as gifts? Does GRA know that you produce 2 million, and do you pay taxes on it for this nation?

“The impunity of politicians to talk nonsense to the citizenry because they gave you privileges and opportunities. And you spit in their face like this? You put down 2 million. Where did you get that two million?” he stated.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has recalled Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, due to the allegations of vote-buying during the NDC’s Ayawaso East Constituency parliamentary primaries.

The NDC is currently conducting its own investigation into the allegations. Baba Jamal is still expected to contest the March 3 parliamentary by-election on the party’s ticket.
