Ghanaian business executive and consultant Kofi Koduah Sarpong, popularly known as KK Sarpong, has said the signs of his party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections were apparent long before voting day.
Speaking in an interview with Paul Adom Otchere, monitored by MyNewsGh, Sarpong explained that he was not actively involved in the campaign in the months leading up to the polls, having stepped aside to focus on personal work while closely following political developments.
“I was at home,” he said. “Writing my memoirs. Of course, I was observing the political scene.”
According to him, the warning signals were clear and hard to dismiss.
“I saw the signs that we would be losing the elections,” he stated. “Nothing could be done about it.”
Asked why the situation could not be turned around, Sarpong said time was not on the party’s side.
“It was too late,” he said. “Things had changed so much, and I don’t think we could salvage it in a few months.”
He concluded that by that stage, defeat had effectively become unavoidable.
“So losing was, as a matter of course,” he added.
