Dear GhanaWeb,

My wife and I have been married for just three months. She has already regretted marrying me, but I’m willing to make the marriage work.

I admit I am the problem, but she has hers too. The whole reason for this divorce is that I break the bread with my hands instead of cutting it with a bread knife.

She said that when she sees someone has broken bread without properly slicing it with a bread knife, it makes her puke.

She reacts very angrily anytime she comes and I’ve broken the bread with my hands. She even loses her appetite for some time.

I have in mind to always slice the bread but I end up breaking it before I remember to do what’s appropriate.

So, on a few occasions, she comes to meet that I still break the bread with my hands. She has made the effort to keep the bread knife exactly next to the bread so I don’t make the mistake again, but I always make the mistake.

Sometimes, I try to use the knife to dress the surface so she doesn’t know but she still gets to know. Again, I sometimes use the toilet and forget to flush. We’ve been arguing about this many times.

We dated for two years before getting married but due to our busy schedule, we didn’t really spend much time together. She didn’t really like sleeping over in my house so she comes to visit and leaves at night.

She had a car so she didn’t mind driving to my house anytime she wanted. She is now saying that she didn’t know that’s how I do my things, and that she wouldn’t have married me.

The way she reacts makes me angry too sometimes, so I talk back. During one of the arguments, she asked for a divorce.

I thought she was joking but she went to the district office to start the process. She’s serious and I’ve tried to talk to her but she said she can’t stand me.

Our marriage is not even four months old. She’s the woman I want; I just make mistakes and I have plans to correct it. There are other things we argue about, like cleaning my feet before lying on the bed, not leaving dishes on the dinner table, among others.

I struggle to keep up and she’s always on me, so I react too. What can I do to change her mind? I’ve pleaded with her to give me another chance to change, but she wouldn’t listen.

She said I should get any family member involved in this as it’s her decision. I’m confused on what to do. I need help!
