Sifuna To Speak To Media Tonight A Year After Raila’s Death As ODM Stages Memorial Rallies

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will share personal memories of the late Raila Odinga on K24 this evening. The Equitable Party leader and 2027 presidential candidate will appear at 7pm on the programme Remembering Raila.

The show will be hosted by Brian Amwai. Pauline Njoroge announced the appearance and said Sifuna would reflect on the life and legacy of Baba.

The timing carries weight. Kenya is marking October as a month of remembrance for Raila who died on October 15 2025. ODM has named the month Mwezi wa Baba and lined up events across the country to honour his contribution to democracy and Pan-Africanism.

Today the party is holding a major memorial rally in Kakamega. Supporters from Western Kenya counties including Kakamega and Busia are expected to attend. Party chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga is among the leaders who convened the gathering.

Sifuna was once the ODM Secretary General and a close ally of Raila. He will speak from outside the party fold this time. He recently took over leadership of TEP.

In recent public appearances the senator has repeatedly spoken of Raila’s unfinished political journey. He has described October as a deeply symbolic month for the country.

The two events running side by side show a continuing contest over Raila’s political inheritance one year after his death.

ODM leaders will gather in Kakamega to honour their founder. Sifuna will use a television platform to offer a different voice that once sat at the heart of the party machinery.

Many Kenyans are expected to follow both events. Viewers will be keen to hear what Sifuna says about the man who shaped his political career and what he thinks lies ahead for the opposition.
