Sifuna Responds to Claims That His Party Has Registered 5 Million Members

Linda Mwananchi movement leader Edwin Sifuna has responded to questions about whether his new party, The Equitable Party, has registered five million members.

While answering a journalist, Sifuna has said that the party leader has not been in charge of keeping membership records. He has asked the journalist to be patient until the party has appointed its officials, who will provide the information.

Sifuna has explained that the party has not yet fully established its structures, making it difficult to give clear details about its membership numbers.

The Nairobi senator has also revealed that the party has written to the Registrar of Political Parties requesting a change of its name to Linda Mwananchi.

He has said that once the change has been approved, the party will move across the country and open offices in different areas.

According to Sifuna, opening offices across the country will help the party reach more Kenyans and attract more members. He has expressed hope that the membership numbers will grow as the party expands its activities.

Sifuna has further explained that the party has no control over how quickly the registrar will process the request to change its name.

He has said that although they have made the request, they do not know how long the process will take because the speed of the work depends on the registrar.

The remarks have come as the movement has continued its efforts to build a strong political presence across the country.

However, Sifuna has not given a clear figure on the number of members who have joined The Equitable Party so far.

He has instead asked Kenyans and journalists to wait until the party has established its leadership structures and made its membership information available.

The party’s planned countrywide expansion is expected to help it reach more people and increase its membership.
