“Kitu Ambayo Inafanya Kazi Vizuri Kwa Hospitali Ni Mochari” DJ Shiti Alleges SHA Failure During Dad’s Burial
Kenyan comedian DJ Shiti has criticised the government over alleged failures in the implementation of the Social Health Authority (SHA), saying his family faced difficulties accessing treatment for his late father.
Speaking on Friday, October 9, 2026, during the burial of Richard Ndege Mbanda, DJ Shiti revealed that his family had spent six years dealing with his father’s battle with prostate cancer.
He questioned whether SHA was providing adequate support to patients, claiming that some families were informed that their health cover had been deducted but were still required to pay extra for specialised treatment.
The comedian also criticised services in public hospitals, claiming that many patients were struggling to receive the care they needed.
He made a particularly sharp remark about hospital services, alleging that morgues were functioning better than other departments.
DJ Shiti further raised concerns about the safety of patients seeking treatment in public facilities, arguing that families needed assurance that their loved ones would receive proper medical attention.
Despite his criticism of the healthcare system, the comedian praised medical staff at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret, where his father received treatment.
He acknowledged the efforts of the hospital team in caring for his father throughout his years of illness.
DJ Shiti’s remarks highlighted the financial and emotional strain families can face when seeking long-term treatment for serious illnesses such as cancer.
He called on the government and relevant health authorities to address concerns over SHA coverage and improve service delivery in public hospitals, particularly for patients who require specialised care.
