Ruth Odinga Speaks After Arrest Of Alleged ‘Chief Goon’ Kassim Abdi Sebo In Homa Bay
Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has spoken out following the arrest of Kassim Abdi Sebo, whom police described as “chief goon”.
In her remarks, Ruth expressed concern over the events that reportedly unfolded after officers arrested Sebo, weeks after violence disrupted a Linda Mwananchi political rally in Homa Bay in August.
According to her account, Sebo’s alleged associates responded to the arrest by causing disorder in the town’s central business district.
She claimed that businesses were broken into and looted, while tyres were set on fire along roads.
Ruth questioned the continued use of violence in political activities, warning that the consequences could extend beyond the immediate groups involved and affect ordinary residents and businesses.
“This is what happens when you feed a dragon. Now there are consequences when you touch ‘chief goons’,” she said, using the expression to highlight what she described as the growing influence of individuals involved in political violence.
The Woman Representative also directed her message at people she believes finance and organise such groups, urging them to stop supporting activities that threaten public safety.
“To the financiers and organizers of goonism, stop feeding the dragon. It is growing, and soon even the government will fail to slay it,” Ruth stated.
Her remarks come amid renewed attention on security in Homa Bay following the arrest operation at the town’s bus stage.
Police said seven other men were also arrested after allegedly attempting to obstruct officers during Sebo’s apprehension.
The eight suspects were being held for processing ahead of their expected court appearance.
