Samba Foods Limited has returned to profitability, recording a profit after tax of approximately GH₵265,000 in 2025, compared with a loss of about GH₵245,000 the previous year.
The turnaround, described by management as a significant step in the company’s recovery, was announced at the Ghana Stock Exchange’s (GSE) “Facts Behind the Figures” forum in Accra yesterday, where the company presented its 2025 financial and operational performance to the press, brokers and representatives of institutional investors.
The Managing Director of Samba Foods Limited, Dr Mrs Leticia Osafo-Addo, together with members of her executive team, said the results reflected a deliberate shift in the company’s business direction and renewed focus on operational efficiency.
According to the company, total income more than doubled in 2025, rising to approximately GH₵1.62 million, while gross profit margin increased significantly from about seven per cent in 2024 to roughly 42 per cent during the year under review.
Operationally, the company also produced approximately 11 million sachets under the Unifa arrangement, contributing to the improvement in its overall performance.
Dr Osafo-Addo said although the return to profit was encouraging, management was cautious about describing the development as a complete turnaround.
“A single profitable year should not be regarded as a completed turnaround. The real test is whether we can sustain this performance, reduce our vulnerabilities and build a stronger platform for growth,” she said.
She explained that the company was focused not only on improving its immediate financial position but also on strengthening its operations to ensure that the gains recorded in 2025 could be sustained.
The Managing Director said the company would continue to assess its business model, improve efficiency and identify opportunities that could support long-term growth and value creation for shareholders.
The presentation also provided stakeholders with an opportunity to better understand the factors behind the company’s improved financial position and its outlook for the coming years.
She said the management acknowledged that while the 2025 figures represented a major improvement, there was still work to be done to consolidate the gains and build resilience into the business.
Dr Osafo-Addo said further information is expected to be made available to stakeholders, investors and the general public as preparations for related post-presentation documentation are completed.
Samba Foods, a Ghanaian-owned food processing and preservation company based in Tema, was incorporated in 1993 and commenced operations the same year. The company was listed on the GSE Alternative Market in 2015.
It has over the years established itself in Ghana’s processed food industry, particularly in condiments and seasonings, and became the first company to commercialise the production and distribution of SHITO, the traditional Ghanaian pepper sauce.
