In South Africa, Titans bowlers Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi took wickets on the first day of the new first-class cricket season in a match against the Dolphins at SuperSport Park. The Dolphins were bowled out for 157 runs, while Jansen finished the innings with figures of 3/39.

Titans bowlers restrict opponents
Jansen came on as the second-change bowler and showed aggressive play in his first three overs. Ngidi bowled four wicketless overs at the start of the match but put pressure on the opponents. The Titans’ first breakthrough in the sixth over was provided by team newcomer Beyers Swanepoel, who dismissed Selaam Pillay.

Swanepoel took 3/31 in his debut match for the new team. After the lunch break, Ngidi somewhat lost control of his line and length, but later dismissed his national team teammate Keshav Maharaj lbw. Ngidi finished the first innings with figures of 1/28 from eight overs.
Simon Harmer bowled two overs but made a one-handed catch to his right at second slip, after which Khaya Zondo was dismissed. The source also notes that Jansen and Ngidi gained match practice ahead of South Africa’s ODI series against Australia, which is due to begin in two weeks.
Bavuma scores 91 runs
In another match on the first day of the season at the Wanderers, South Africa Test captain Temba Bavuma scored 91 runs and helped the Lions gain an advantage over Boland. He hit 14 boundaries and put on a 102-run partnership with Mitchell van Buuren, who scored 52 runs. Ryan Rickelton added 49 runs, while Wiaan Mulder was not included in the Lions’ starting lineup due to family circumstances.
