Akatsi South Municipality prepares 1,540 Candidates for 2026 BECE

Akatsi (VR), May 1, GNA – A total of 1,540 candidates are expected to sit for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Akatsi South Municipality from Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8. 

Out of the figure, 761 are males while 789 are females, drawn from 83 registered schools comprising 60 public and 23 private institutions. 

This was disclosed to the GNA by Mrs Mathilda Adzo Tettevia, the Akatsi South Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, where she revealed that 1,239 candidates are from public schools, made up of 607 males and 632 females, while private schools presented 308 candidates, consisting of 150 males and 158 females. 

She further disclosed that six examination centres had been designated for the exercise, namely, Avenorpeme Senior High School, Akatsi No.1 School, Akatsi Duawodome, and Akatsi Senior High Technical School, which would operate three centres: A, B, and C. 

“A total of 62 invigilators, six supervisors, and six assistant supervisors have been deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations across the Municipality.” 

Mr Karim Ayaana Umar, the Director of Education for the Municipality, added that adequate preparations had been made to guarantee a successful examination. 

He urged candidates to adhere strictly to examination rules and regulations and avoid any form of malpractice, while wishing them success in their papers.
