A high-level delegation led by CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has held strategic talks with the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, and senior government officials, reinforcing Ghana’s ambition to strengthen its football infrastructure and deepen grassroots development.

The discussions centred on Ghana’s long-term goal of positioning itself as a credible host for major African and international football tournaments. Officials underscored the importance of upgrading facilities and expanding opportunities for young talent across the country.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams highlighted football’s unifying influence, stressing its significance in national development. He acknowledged existing structural challenges while pointing to the opportunities within the sport to promote unity and pride. He also reaffirmed government commitment to investing in grassroots and school sports systems to harness Ghana’s rich talent base.

CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu expressed optimism about Ghana’s potential and reiterated the confederation’s readiness to support its development agenda. He urged stakeholders to prioritise the improvement of pitches, stadiums and training facilities as a key requirement for securing future hosting rights.

Adamu further encouraged Ghana to develop a detailed strategic proposal for upcoming tournament bids, noting that infrastructure readiness would be central to CAF’s considerations. He also confirmed CAF’s willingness to provide technical assistance to help elevate standards across the country.

The engagement marks another step in ongoing collaboration between CAF, the GFA and government, with all parties aligned on the need to build a stronger foundation for Ghanaian football. If sustained, the efforts could place Ghana in a stronger position to host major tournaments while nurturing the next generation of players.
