The crowning of the ultimate I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here legend is only a matter of weeks away

I’m a Celebrity… South Africa is back, and the trials and challenges have been deemed tougher than ever for the returning celebrities.

The hit ITV spin-off series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here returns on Monday (April 6) with 12 famous faces ready to prove they can take on the jungle once more as they land in South Africa for weeks of trials.

With relentless twists and turns, it’s been teased that the campmates will never know what’s coming next. They will be faced with challenges at every turn, quickly learning that with big decisions come even bigger consequences

As viewers may recall, the first series aired back in 2023 and saw Myleene Klass win the “legend” title after after beating runner-up Jordan Banjo in a final eating trial. Fatima Whitbread finished in third place.

This year, viewers can tune in every weeknight from 9pm on ITV1 or stream on ITVX to watch the drama unfold as the stars tackle various bushtucker trials.

An ITV spokesperson said about the series: “The all-star version of the iconic I’m A Celebrity… format will once again bring together some of the most memorable campmates from series gone by, as they return to test themselves in brand new trials and challenges in the South African wilderness.

“The award-winning Ant & Dec are back as hosts, with the new series featuring a fresh group of returning campmates, spectacular locations within the South African landscape and some of the most epic and extreme trials in I’m A Celebrity… history.”

The stacked cast list will see stars such as Coronation Street’s Beverley Callard, Waterloo Road’s Adam Thomas, pop icon Sinitta and former football manager Harry Redknapp entering the Savannah.

Is it filmed live and can the public vote?

Unlike the Australian main series which is broadcast live each night with an 11-hour time difference, the South African series was pre-recorded last year, thought to be in September.

Instead of the public voting to eliminate the celebrities, the campmates themselves will choose who to bid farewell to after various tough challenges are completed.

However, unlike the frist I’m A Celebrity South Africs in 2023, the public will get to have their say with who wins. On Friday, April 24, the contestants will be live in a UK studio as the public get to have their say on who should be crowned the “ultimate legend” out of the remaining campmates.

Co-host Dec Donnelly teased: “Myleene Klass won it in South Africa last time, doing the best final head to head, Bushtucker trial thing we’ve ever seen. So we thought we want to leave it up to the public, but to get to that point, to be a finalist, we’ve made it tougher than ever”.
