The Kenya Railways has issued a public warning, cautioning Kenyans against fraudulent job advertisements circulating on social media.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, April 2, 2026, the authority raised an alarm over fake recruitment notices targeting unsuspecting job seekers.

The Kenya Railways has urged Kenyans to verify all job-related information directly through its official platforms, including  http://krc.co.ke.

“We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement doing the rounds on various social media platforms. We strongly advise job seekers to be cautious and verify any job adverts through our website: http://krc.co.ke,” Kenya Railways announced.

IEBC Fake job alert

Meanwhile, the fake job alert comes as Public entities have been on the spot with a rise of fraudulent job posts.

As of Friday, March 6, 2026, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) raised an alarm over fake recruitment notices targeting unsuspecting job seekers.

The commission emphasised that all legitimate recruitment information is only communicated through its official website and verified social media platforms, urging the public to remain vigilant.

“Fake Jobs Alert! Beware of fraudulent job advertisements on social media.@IEBCKenya official jobs portal is https://jobs.iebc.or.ke For accurate and up-to-date information, please visit our official website ( and our verified social media platforms @IEBCKenya,” IEBC said.

The fake messages mimic official communication and include misleading language suggesting that the IEBC has launched recruitment portals for election-related jobs. Some of the fraudulent content falsely reads: “IEBC invites interested and qualified candidates to apply for various positions… To apply, please use the official portal below,” followed by links that do not belong to the commission.

The IEBC clarified that it has not announced any recruitment for polling personnel and warned that any such claims currently circulating are false.

In its alert, the commission highlighted several unauthorised links being used to mislead the public. The IEBC stressed that these links are fraudulent and should not be accessed.

The commission reiterated that its only official recruitment portal is https://jobs.iebc.or.ke, and any other site claiming to offer IEBC jobs is fake. Members of the public were cautioned that engaging with such links could expose them to identity theft, financial loss, or misuse of personal information.
