President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to convene a second National Economic Dialogue later this year, aimed at assessing progress made from the previous forum and outlining the next steps for Ghana’s economic recovery.
The President made the disclosure during a meeting with Organised Labour on Tuesday, March 17, highlighting the critical role workers will play in shaping discussions at the upcoming engagement.
According to him, the decision to reconvene the dialogue is intended to evaluate the effectiveness of measures agreed at the maiden forum and identify areas requiring further action.
“Last year we held the National Economic Dialogue. This year we are going to hold another because we want to look at the progress we made from the previous one.
“The last one identified what the issues were and what steps we should take to arrest the situation. This year we are going to hold a National Economic Dialogue one year on and Organised Labour is going to be an important part of the dialogue. It will be all the issues that we have faced together,” he said.
The planned dialogue forms part of broader efforts by the government to sustain stakeholder engagement and build consensus on key economic policies and reforms.
