NORTHERN Ghana has recorded a major milestone in its industrialisation drive as Northshore Apparel Ghana Ltd adopts Coats Digital’s full digital suite to power the region’s first sustainable apparel manufacturing hub.

The facility, located in Savelugu Municipality, will leverage Coats Digital’s GSDCost, FastReactPlan, and FastReactFabric solutions to enable precise costing, efficient production planning, and fabric optimisation.

The move is expected to drive zero-waste operations, ethical manufacturing, and large-scale job creation across Northern Ghana.

The Public Relations and Communications Manager of Coats Digital, Laurena McKenna, told The Ghanaian Times that Northshore Apparel was a pioneering start-up, backed by the Ghana and German governments. She said the adoption of Coats Digital’s tools would provide a “digital backbone” for the hub, ensuring operational excellence, sustainability, and social impact from design to delivery.

Coats Digital, part of the global Coats Group, specialises in software solutions for the apparel and footwear industries, offering AI-powered tools for supply chain management, production planning, and method-time-cost optimisation.

Coats Digital software is used by over 3,000 factories worldwide to enhance efficiency, transparency, and speed to market.

The Savelugu hub transforms reclaimed land into a state-of-the-art, zero-waste facility specialising in T-shirts, polos, fleece hoodies, children’s wear, sportswear, underwear, leggings, and trousers.

The initiative aims to reduce chronic unemployment in the north, curb unsafe migration to southern Ghana and Europe, and create dignified jobs at scale in one of the country’s most underserved regions.

The facility exemplifies a new model for apparel manufacturing in Ghana, integrating technology, sustainability, and social impact. With Coats Digital’s solutions as its digital backbone, Northshore Apparel is set to become a flagship for ethical, globally competitive production and long-term economic resilience in Northern Ghana.
