Terror threat to Americans looms over Iran conflict — Prof. Antwi‑Danso

International Analyst, Prof. Vladimir Antwi-Danso has warned that American citizens could face an increased risk of terrorism following the recent military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran.

Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Monday, March 2, with Bernard Avle, Prof. Antwi-Danso criticised the United States for what he described as a failure to learn from past regime-change interventions.

According to him, attempts at regime change have historically failed to produce stability or peace in affected countries.

He argued that pursuing similar actions against Iran, which he described as a theocratic and monolithic state, would not yield positive outcomes for the US.

Prof. Antwi-Danso expressed concern that the conflict could trigger a resurgence in terrorist activities, potentially putting American citizens at risk.

He referenced past global events, including developments in Afghanistan that preceded the September 11, 2001, attacks, as examples of unintended consequences arising from foreign interventions.

“If America learned its lessons, it would know that at no point has regime change created the conducive atmosphere that they wanted. If they were actually learning their lessons, they would know that regime change in nowhere else but a theocratic, monolithic state like Iran is not going to bring them any good.

“In fact, what I’m fearing is that terrorism is going to have an uptick, and America and American citizens are at the bottom of the fallout, because Afghanistan created the conditions where September 11 happened. Donald Trump [US President], if he went to a better school and he knows his history very well, he would have known that no type of change of regime has created peace for America.”

On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched coordinated military strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure, leadership compounds and strategic sites, significantly escalating long-standing tensions over Iran’s nuclear programme and regional influence.

Iran subsequently carried out retaliatory strikes. Reports indicated fatalities and injuries linked to incidents at Dubai International Airport and Zayed International Airport, leading to the grounding of flights and widespread travel disruptions across the region.
