Kenya’s road accidents in numbers

A chilling report released today at the State House by the NCAJ reveals that Kenya’s roads have become increasingly lethal, with 5,009 deaths recorded in 2025.

This surge exceeds the national annual average of 4,000 fatalities, costing the economy a staggering Sh450 billion every year.

While Public Service Vehicle (PSV) fatalities dropped by 10% during the recent festive season, private vehicle accidents are rising.

Major concerns remain centered on boda boda risks and nighttime crashes involving long-distance trucks.

Despite a 25% success rate in virtual traffic courts, pedestrian vulnerability and poor infrastructure continue to drive these tragic numbers.
