Ghana’s team is gradually becoming a fortress for other teams to beat at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with enigmatic performance exhibited.

Under the stewardship of Portuguese trainer Carlos Queiroz, the Black Stars seems to have found their rhythm and confidence back after a long period. The four times Africa Champions missed out in the 2025 African Cup of Nations after failing to qualify, following a run of poor performance.

The Football Association took the decision to sack Otto Addo for 73-year old Carlos Queiroz in mid April on a short contract.

Despite, a short time with the Black Stars Carlos Queiroz has managed to implement his defensive tactics on the team and now shining with Ghana at the Mundial. Drawn in Group L with European powerhouse England, Croatia and Panama, many did not anticipate a good run of performance from the Black Stars.

Ghana were considered dark horse of Group L, however has turned that to their advantage and gunned up to the round of 32.

Amongst teams in the 2026 FIFA World Cup yet to concede a goal, Ghana is included. The Black Stars are one of only four teams yet to concede a goal at the 2026 World Cup joining Argentina, Mexico and tournament favourites Spain.

Recording a win and clean sheet against Panama and holding England to a goalless draw, hands Ghana four points to progress to round of 32 stage. However, will face Croatia in the last group game.
