Ghana’s Kamaladeen Sulemana is in line to compete in the next phase of Europe’s premier continental tournament after his Atalanta team beat Germany’s Borussia Dortmund to progress.
Atalanta hammered Dortmund 4-1 in Italy to qualify via a 4-3 win on aggregate and the win keeps the Italian team in the bracket of the draw where either Arsenal or Bayern Munich awaits.
Arsenal and Bayern Munich qualified automatically to the round of 16 stage from the group stage after finishing first and second respectively in the standings; Arsenal won all eight games.
Sulemana joins Mohammed Kudus of Tottenham Hotspurs as the only Ghanaians to have their teams qualify to the round of 16 stage.

In the crucial win over Dortmund in the second leg, Sulemana replaced Nicola Zalewski and played 14 minutes as a substitute.
