Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader, has taken a swipe at the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, over what he described as disrespect towards some Minority MPs.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Friday, March 13, 2026, Afenyo-Markin accused the minister of pointing at some MPs with his left hand while addressing them.

According to the Minority Leader, the minister’s attitude and demeanour were unfortunate, adding that he could have channeled his grievance to the leaders of the House rather than disrespecting the MPs.

‘We are moving from digital consumption to digital production’ – Sam George

“…He went further to use his left hand to point at some colleagues on the backbench, claiming that they had just arrived and should go and learn the rules. Honourable Sam George is indeed a colleague Member of Parliament, but he knows, and I know, that once you become a Minister of State, you occupy an elevated position.

“And no matter what, all of us must accord that rank the respect it deserves. I find what he just directed at my backbench unfortunate. Honourable Minister, there is a good reason why you have a front bench that, in all difficulties and dangers as you see them, you engage so that we can all resolve matters together,” he said.

Afenyo-Markin further noted that it was uncalled for the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations to address colleague MPs with his left hand.

“Even if they were wrong, you are a Minister of State; you do not use your left hand to attack a colleague in this chamber. That is exactly what you did. Mr Speaker, anyway, that thing that we cherish melts, and it melts with time,” he added.
