Bankyiem (W/R), Feb. 1, GNA – Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency of the Western Region have overwhelmingly endorsed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the Party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Dr Bawumia secured 967 votes out of the total valid ballots cast, defeating his closest contender, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who garnered 184 votes.

The other aspirants—Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong—obtained 55, zero, and one vote respectively.

In all, 1,264 valid votes were cast, with five ballots rejected, out of a total of 1,320 registered delegates.

Some delegates who spoke to the Ghana News Agency commended the constituency party leadership and the Western Central Regional Police Command for ensuring a peaceful and smooth electoral process.

They also appealed to supporters of all aspirants to put aside their differences, foster unity within the Party, and work collectively towards securing victory in the 2028 general elections.
