Nollywood actress Teniola Aladese has spoken about her growing fear for personal safety in her Lekki estate, saying she can no longer go on walks alone because strange men often trail her.
Naija News reports that the actress shared her experience during an interview on a podcast, where she compared life in Lekki with her former neighbourhood in Magodo.

She explained that while living in Magodo, she freely took long walks even late at night without feeling any danger.
According to her, walking had always been part of her daily routine.
When she moved to Lekki, she tried to continue the habit by taking early morning walks or evening walks after returning from movie sets.

However, she soon noticed that she did not feel relaxed or safe in the new environment.
She said the situation became worse at the beginning of the year when she decided to take her fitness more seriously and return to regular walks.
During most of these walks, she wore earphones but remained alert, often turning around because she felt uneasy about her surroundings.

She also mentioned that many construction workers and labourers were usually around the area, which added to her fear.
The actress recalled a frightening evening when she finished work early and decided to take a walk.
She noticed three men moving behind her and turning whenever she turned into another street.

With poor lighting in the area, her fear grew stronger as she became convinced that the men were following her.
When she saw some labourers approaching, she quickly changed direction and ran straight into her house instead of continuing her walk.
From her balcony, she later watched the men reach the end of the street, look around in confusion, and then turn back, confirming her suspicion that they had been trailing her.

After that incident, Aladese said she stopped walking outside completely. She went to a shopping mall and bought a treadmill so she could continue exercising safely at home.
She added that many women live with constant fear in public spaces and that men often do not understand how unsafe everyday activities can feel for women.
