Avume (VR), Jan. 16, GNA – Mr Kad Daniel Agboka, the Assembly Member of Avume Electoral Area, in the Anloga District of the Volta Region, has appealed to the government for more development projects in the communities to help improve the progress of the area.
He made this call during the opening of a KG block at Anloga Avume basic school (Anseco basic) and emphasised the need for collective efforts to drive progress in the electoral area.
Mr Agboka, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including the PTA, led by Mr James Elorm Tofah, who contributed 30 trips of sand to lay the foundation for the project and commended the teachers, and Mr Richard Kwame Sefe, Anloga Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) for completing the project.
“I think we have come far too long to be deprived of development projects.
“We need good roads, clean water, sustainable electricity power, good infrastructure project among others to drive development of Avume electoral area,” he said.
Mr Agboka highlighted the community’s expectations from the MP, citing several projects that require attention, including reshaping of Mishiso Street, fencing of Anseco basic school, and electrification extension to some parts of the community.
He mentioned other projects such as provision of farm inputs for farmers, building of a CHIP compound, additional streetlights, soft loans for farmers, and support for brilliant but needy students should be initiated to alleviate the plight of the people and emphasised the importance of dialogue and mutual respect in achieving the goals.
“Our community has been a leader in the region for years, and it is time to see more projects, l am urging all stakeholders and the community to unite and work together for the development of Avume electoral area to stand tall among rest.”
He said that the call for development projects was expected to resonate with stakeholders, including government agencies and Non-Governmental Oganisations, who could provide support to solve the pressing challenges the area has faced over the years.
Mr Agboka, also outlined several specific actions to ensure the community’s development projects are implemented which included establishing community-based committees to comprise diverse stakeholders to enable inclusive decision-making processes and organising regular community meetings and forums to engage community members and gather feedback
He urged community members to collaborate with local organisations and government agencies to secure support and resources and provide technical support to other members to enhance their skills and knowledge in project planning and implementation as well as facilitate knowledge sharing and experiential learning through peer-to-peer mentoring and networking opportunities.
He also appealed to residents to identify key stakeholders and understand their roles, needs, and concern to help develop a community engagement plan that outlines the vision, goals, and outreach strategies.
He called on private sectors to prioritise the challenges of Avume electoral area and provide the necessary financial resources, support, investment and assistant and offer technical expertise and skills to partner with community organisations and government agencies to implement projects.
Mr Agboka said that promoting corporate social responsibilities and community engagement with maximum support for local businesses and entrepreneurs to stimulate economic growth would be the best method to drive smooth economic development of the area.
He said the communities looked to the future, for their essentials to be prioritised for projects that would drive growth and improve living standards of the people in the electoral area.
Mr Richard Kwame Sefe, the MP, has also promised that various development sectors have been prioritised and challenges would be address in due time to provide the needed relief to the people.
He appealed to the communities to be united and rally behind the government for more development project that could transform many residents for a brighter future.
