Court Throws Out NDLEA Suit, Clears Pretty Mike’s Club To Reopen

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has cleared Proxy Night Club, owned by Lagos socialite Mike Nwogu, widely known as Pretty Mike, to resume operations.

Naija News reports that this comes after the court rejected a fresh move by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to keep the venue shut.

Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa turned down the NDLEA’s request to stop the enforcement of an earlier court order that allowed the nightclub in Victoria Island to be unsealed while an appeal is pending.

The judge ruled that the agency failed to meet the legal conditions needed to suspend the decision given on December 5, 2025.

The court also faulted the NDLEA for not asking for a suspension of a previous ruling delivered on November 28, which formed the basis of the December order.

According to the judge, that failure weakened the agency’s position and affected its application.

Justice Lewis-Allagoa further held that the reasons listed by the NDLEA in its appeal did not justify preventing the reopening of the club.

With this decision, the order directing that the premises be unsealed remains valid, allowing Proxy Night Club to reopen.

The legal battle followed a late-night operation on October 26, 2025, when NDLEA officers stormed the club and arrested Pretty Mike along with over 100 patrons over alleged drug-related offences.

Those arrested were later taken to court, pleaded not guilty, and were granted bail on November 7, 2025.

After the raid, the NDLEA approached the court seeking temporary forfeiture of the nightclub, claiming it was linked to drug activities.

That request was dismissed, with the court relying on the principle that suspects are innocent until proven guilty and ordering that the club be unsealed.

During the latest hearing, the court also approved an application for substituted service in a contempt case against the NDLEA Chairman over alleged failure to obey court orders.

The agency was warned to fully comply with all directives of the court.

Meanwhile, proceedings in the main criminal case are scheduled to continue on February 9 and 10.
