In my Administration ASUU Won’t Strike—Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Tuesday said that Academic Staff Union of Universities won’t go on strike if he becomes the next president of the country.

Obi speaking at a state rally in Owerri, Imo State, said that his administration would dialogue with ASUU leadership to ensure that universities won’t be locked.

The LP presidential candidate said his administration would work with students and invest hugely in education, health and agriculture.

Obi also reiterated his commitment to providing jobs and turning the country from consumption to production, adding that himself and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, had clean records in academics and public service.

He added that the people of Imo State could begin to export palm seeds if he becomes the next president.

The ex-Anambra State governor said that rural people across the country would feel the impact of his administration if he wins the February 25 presidential election.

D’banj Arrested, Over Fraud Allegations

A Nigerian musician, Oladapo Oyebanji, famously known as D’banj has been arrested and detained by anti-graft agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over fraud allegations.

The musician was arrested and detained Tuesday after ICPC operatives closed in on him, forcing him to surrender himself at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, sources familiar with the matter told PREMIUM TIMES.

D’banj, insiders said, had dodged summons for weeks, claiming to be overseas for scheduled concerts each time he was invited to appear for interrogation over allegations.

The pop star, a wealthy Nigerian celebrity, is accused of fraudulently diverting some funds earmarked by the Nigerian government for N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

APC set to counter falsehood against Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Canada Chapter, has declared its readiness to counter false claims directed at the party and its presidential candidate, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The party revealed this in a statement by the chapter’s Chairman, Mr Omololu Apata, on Tuesday in Akure.

Omololu explained that, apart from contributing financially and materially to the party, the APC, Canada chapter, would confront issues of maligning the character of APC’s presidential candidate.
