…Restates Commitment to Welfare of Journalists
The need for people to live in good health for effective service delivery, has been stressed by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong.
The Commissioner emphasized when he played host to the Executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, led by the Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, in the Ministry of Information Headquarters, Uyo, Friday.
Responding to an appeal for health care support for NUJ members, Comrade Ememobong, maintained that good health was vital for effective performance of one’s duty.
He stated that the NUJ leadership, through the appeal, was preempting his scheduled plan for medical checks for staff of his ministry for optimum performance of their duties.
The Information Boss, indicated that given his passion and commitment to the welfare of members of the Union, he will collaborate to ensure effective healthcare service for the Journalists in the state.
He, in turn, called on the leadership of NUJ to open up membership registration to enable the newly recruited staff of his Ministry to participate effectively in Union activities and also have the opportunity to enhance their professional standing.
Commending the Union under the watch of Comrade Amos Etuk, the Commissioner observed matured reportage and proper media management by the Journalists, same to continue in the projection of the ARISE Agenda.
He also acknowledged the good work and steady progress on projects undertaken at the NUJ Press Centre.
Earlier, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, said their visit was to welcome the Commissioner back in Office and felicitate with him on his emergence as a National Council Member of NIPR.
Comrade Etuk, listed the developments and achievements of the Union and its members during the Commissioner’s brief absence from office, stating that the lecture series he promised at each Congress of the Union, commenced at the August Congress.
He enlisted the support of the Commissioner towards the Union’s programmes, members’ welfare and the re-election of the National Secretary of NAWOJ, during the body’s upcoming National Delegates Conference, pledging the Union’s total support and effective propagation of the Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda.
