Former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has urged delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to vote for presidential hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, in the party’s upcoming primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31.

Describing him as courageous and trustworthy, she said the former Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) possesses the qualities Ghana needs in its next leader.

Addressing NPP delegates during a campaign tour of the Atebubu/Amantin Constituency in the Bono East Region, Naa Torshie Addo said the party’s next flagbearer must be compassionate, firm and true to his word, stressing that Kennedy Agyapong best fits that profile.

“NPP needs a leader with a kind heart, a man of valor, courageous. Ghana also needs a businessman as President to transform our lives. Mr Agyapong fits those qualities because his philanthropic work and unquestionable reputation are glaring for all to see”.

She added that the NPP must prioritise leadership founded on integrity, hard work and popular appeal if it hopes to regain political power in the 2028 general elections.

“Majority of the Ghanaian voters now like Kennedy Agyapong,” she added.

Naa Torshie Addo expressed confidence that the party would win the 2028 elections under Mr Agyapong’s leadership and urged delegates to vote for him in the supreme interest of the NPP and the country.

The opposition NPP is preparing to hold its 2028 presidential primary to elect a flagbearer for the general election. In that regard, Mr Agyapong and four other presidential aspirants on Thursday, January 22, signed a peace pact committing themselves to unity, respect for party processes and support for the eventual winner.

The other aspirants are former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; Abetifi MP and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong; Bosomtwe MP and former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum; and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
