Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, says the construction of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway is expected to create about 30,000 direct and indirect jobs for Ghanaians.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, September 10, 2026, the Minister said the government’s investment in road infrastructure is aimed at improving connectivity, enhancing livelihoods and saving lives.

“We are investing in roads because better connections should mean better livelihoods for our people,” Dr Ato Forson said.

The Accra-Kumasi Expressway is a major infrastructure project intended to connect Ghana’s capital, Accra, with Kumasi, the country’s major commercial hub.

The proposed road is designed as a modern six-lane, access-controlled highway, with the aim of easing persistent congestion on the existing Accra-Kumasi route and significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.

Beyond improving transportation, the project is expected to serve as a major economic corridor, facilitating the movement of people and goods while supporting domestic commerce and regional trade.
