President John Dramani Mahama has received a 72 per cent approval rating from Ghanaians, according to the latest survey conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.
The poll indicates that a significant majority of respondents are satisfied with the President’s performance since assuming office, while 21 per cent expressed disapproval. Another seven per cent said they had no opinion.
Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, disclosed the findings during an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Wednesday, August 12.
According to Mr Dankwah, the approval rating relates specifically to President Mahama’s individual performance and does not necessarily reflect broader views about his administration.
“People are cool with him,” he said, describing the current approval level as a strong rating for the President’s term in office.
The survey further showed significant regional differences in the President’s approval ratings.
The Upper West Region recorded the highest level of approval, with 92 per cent of respondents expressing satisfaction with President Mahama’s performance. The Volta Region followed with 88 per cent.
The Northern Region recorded 72 per cent approval, while the Eastern Region posted 71 per cent.
At the lower end of the regional rankings were the Ashanti Region, where 56 per cent approved of the President’s performance, and the North East Region, which recorded 59 per cent.
Beyond the President’s performance, the poll also examined public perceptions about the direction of the country.
Sixty per cent of respondents said Ghana was moving in the right direction, compared with 28 per cent who believed the country was heading in the wrong direction. Twelve per cent did not express a clear view.
The findings also pointed to improving perceptions of household living conditions.
Fifty-three per cent of respondents said their standard of living had improved compared with the previous year. In contrast, 19 per cent reported that their living conditions had become worse.
Global InfoAnalytics said the survey was based on 7,700 completed interviews conducted between July 15 and 24, 2026.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points and is expected to serve as the baseline for a series of tracking surveys to be conducted periodically ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The results provide an early indication of public sentiment towards President Mahama and the broader direction of Ghana under his administration.
