In Ghana, nationwide inspections of road projects are not intended to witch-hunt contractors, Minister for Roads and Highways Governs Kwame Agbodza said. According to him, the inspections are needed to monitor the progress of work and ensure projects are completed within agreed timelines, MyJoyOnline reports.
Monitoring Work Progress
The minister noted that regular visits to construction sites enable the government to assess progress in project implementation. The inspections are also intended to help identify obstacles affecting the work and determine what support contractors need to better fulfill their obligations.

According to Agbodza, the inspections have already prompted several contractors to speed up construction. He also said that many contractors, including those involved in the Big Push program, are performing well.
Visit to the Northern Region
The minister made the statement on September 5 during a working visit to Ghana’s Northern Region as part of a nationwide inspection tour. He assured contractors facing difficulties that the government is ready to support them in fulfilling their obligations. According to Agbodza, such support should help complete the work within the established deadlines.
